An extensive two-month journey through Australia was terminated following the death of an senior woman who was left behind by the vessel on a isolated coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the tropical location with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the group for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and returned several hours later after the personnel became aware the passenger was not present.

An extensive rescue mission found her body the next day.

Officials are examining the event, alongside police and the state coroner.

The CEO of the cruise operator announced that passengers and personnel on the ship were notified that the continuation of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and prior mechanical issues".

In a statement, he further stated that guests would be given a total repayment, and said the company was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also published an revised statement, and said they had "issued a directive to the Master" prohibiting any new passengers from getting on the liner.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the vessel in Cairns upon its coming back.
