Iran is ready to resume nuclear talks with the United States on condition that it is treated with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's foreign minister has declared.

The Iranian diplomat declared solely negotiations was effective, and disclosed recent overtures had been made by intermediaries to reopen talks with the Trump administration. He asserted Iran possessed no unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran was not yet able to allow the UN nuclear inspectorate to access struck enrichment centers for protective measures.

Navigating a Difficult Route

The foreign minister is treading a complex route since Iran does not want be perceived to be acting from a situation of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had arisen more powerful defensively and mentally from the coordinated strike on its nuclear sites in June.

He was speaking at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium within its borders that it will perpetually retain" – the primary cause of the impasse in the earlier negotiations.

Prior Talks Abruptly Concluded

The prior phases of negotiations between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter termination on 12 June when Israel, with Washington's assistance, targeted Iran's enrichment centers in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with the US president declaring the sites had been obliterated. Following this, EU nations used their authority to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran maintains they have not had a substantial consequence.

Magic Solution Proposed

Iranian officials stated they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in previous talks, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with US participation could process nuclear material. Both sides would have been able to declare success since local refinement would have continued and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was entirely non-military.

It had not been agreed in the talks that US nuclear scientists could operate inside Iran, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. In what is characterized by Tehran representatives as the struggle of restoration and reconstruction, Araghchi said he was assured Iran's military capacities "have significantly improved than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been reestablished. We gained numerous insights from this conflict; we have discovered our own weaknesses and the vulnerabilities of the adversary."

He continued: "We managed to survive this engagement. Our atomic expertise, which they planned to eliminate, continues to exist. The installations and equipment, if eliminated, will be reconstructed; what is essential is the determination of the citizens of Tehran and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but were unable to shatter. The citizens of Tehran have become more powerful, more united, and more endorsing of the administration and the state in the face of this invasion."
